The digital transformation of a traditional market into an entrepreneurial ecosystem

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are transforming the business models entrepreneurial ecosystems of different economic activities. As a result, survival some these activities, especially physical markets, is under threat. This article aims to shed light on distinct e-commerce mechanisms wholesale markets that enable upgrading their ecosystem. The study combines insights from scholarly debate ecosystems, with empirical findings case (a fruit market in Chongqing, China). By exploring outcomes e-commerce, this shows ICT adoption can be threat as well an opportunity for markets. On one hand, transaction costs marketing channel power might make less attractive wholesalers customers. other network effects model innovation enhance traditional advantages turn ecosystem into one.
